TAKTL Panels are cast onto molds, not extruded. Casting the panel allows us to take advantage of the unique ability of the material to precisely mimic the surface of its mold – from a perfect mirror finish to rough texture and intricate surface patterns. It also means that there is little cost difference between smooth and textured surfaces.
TAKTL’s Standard Textures
All standard TAKTL textures are available in the full range of standard colors. Standard Flat Texture panels (Smooth, Rough 1, and Rough 2) are 5/8″ (15.9mm) thick. Raised Texture panels (Crinkle, Reeds, Shadows, Rio and Arbos 1) measure 5/8″ (15.9mm) thick at the shallowest points in the pattern. Arbos 2 measures 3/4″ (19.05mm) thick at the shallowest point in the pattern.
The newest addition to our growing portfolio of standard and custom textures, SHADOWS was designed with three-dimensional variation in surface texture to provide a subtle shift in light and movement throughout the day. Available in standard dimensions up to 4×10 feet and our full range of colors and finishes.
A collaboration between our design team and in-house manufacturing experts, RIO’s organic pattern casts varied shadows to create visual depth and motion. Available in a variety of colors, finishes and sizes, RIO is equally well-suited for interior public spaces or the most demanding exterior facade and rainscreen applications. RIO is available in standard dimensions up to 4×10 feet in our full range of finishes. It is one of ten standard patterns in our lineup of flat and raised textures.
Custom Textures and Finishes
Custom textures and surface designs can be achieved using a variety of methods, most frequently beginning with the creation of a tool or pattern that is then used to cast custom polyurethane molds or by developing a custom mask that is used in the media blast finishing process. TAKTL’s in-house design team works collaboratively to find solutions that leverage our in-house technologies and expertise to achieve the design intent in the most cost-effective and efficient way possible.
Our Materials Lab is equipped to develop custom low-profile textures (<1″ in addition to base panel thickness) and surface designs for material orders in excess of 10,000 square feet. Pricing for development and samples will be determined by project. Sample size is limited by the capacity of the smaller scale production environment of our lab (12” x 24” maximum), and development usually requires 12 to 14 weeks, plus additional time for in-house performance testing. Certified laboratory testing, if required, is an additional charge.
