VECTR panels     VECTR Facade + Wall Panels allow architects and designers to create subtle or dramatic articulated facades that are easy to design, specify and install. Our standard patterns and colors can add richness and character to cladding on existing or new construction and are an excellent material for rear ventilated rain screens. VECTR panels are an excellent alternative, and in most cases a superior product, to GFRC, traditional pre-cast concrete, high-pressure laminate, terracotta and stone. They can be used in either interior or exterior applications over a variety of substructures including cladding over masonry and stud walls and rain-screen systems.

sizes     Maximum standard panel size is 48" x 120" (1,220mm x 3,050mm). Matte panels are also available in sheets up to 36" x 132" (915mm x 3,100mm). All panels are cast + cut to these sizes. Standard panels can then be further cut into a variety of proportions and sizes. To reduce overall project costs we recommend designing panel layouts that maximize material use and minimize material waste. TAKTL's production line can accommodate narrow panel widths. Please contact our technical support team to discuss how to optimize material usage.

All panels will be 1/2” (12.7mm) in thickness unless otherwise specified. 1/2" (12.7mm) panels weigh 5.7 lb/ft2 (29.3 kg/m2).

edges, joints, thermal movement     Thermal movement is negligible in VECTR panels and does not affect joint size. The coefficient of linear expansion for a 36" (914mm) VECTR panel over a 68°F (38°C) temperature swing is 0.016" (0.4mm), typically eliminating provisions for thermal movement in the anchorage or joint design of the panel. The coefficient of linear expansion does not drive joint size. Joint size is driven by designer preference, building movement and installation tolerances. The structural engineer of the project should review criteria to determine minimal joint sizes based on building movement values.

flexural strength     TAKTL is a proprietary UHPC, formulated to support loads and span distances that other cementitious materials can’t. The secret of TAKTL’s exceptional strength lies in carefully calibrated ratios of ingredients that allow molecules to pack densely together and bond tightly. This high packing density yields excellent flexural strength in particular – critical in applications such as urban furniture and facade panels in which the material is subjected to forces along the length of very thin profiles.

matrix strength     VECTR panels are reinforced with high performance alkali resistant (AR) glass fibers and are manufactured with two layers of AR glass mesh fabric. There are no corrosive reinforcements, epoxy resins, paper or wood cellulose included. The AR glass reinforcement fibers and mesh are the highest grade commercially available - manufactured with high zirconium content in compliance with ASTM C166/C.

freeze/thaw     Unlike traditional concrete (C45/50), high performance concrete (C105) and GFRC's, the TAKTL material has virtually no capillary pores and is therefore not susceptible to the freeze/thaw degradation, chloride infiltration, and structural failure over time.

coatings     TAKTL does not require a coating to maintain its superior strength and performance characteristics. However, in order to regulate the flow of moisture between the material surface and the environment, MicroSeal/T™, a hydrophobic, breathable finish, is applied to all panels before shipment. This coating helps ensure that the panel will weather evenly and also helps to protect the surface during shipment and installation. MicroSeal/T is invisible and does not affect the rich, natural appearance of the panel. Specialized coatings are available for anti-graffiti, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and resistance to specific stain agents.
